I am a vascular surgeon. I completed a residency in general surgery and subsequently a fellowship in vascular surgery. I am board certified in General and Vascular Surgery. I treat patients with a variety of vascular problems, including carotid artery disease, aortic aneurysm , peripheral vascular disease, varicose veins and I place hemodialysis access for patients with renal failure. I became interested in surgery on my first anatomy class in medical school. I enjoy working with my hands and being in the operating room.
I love to spend time at home with my family, cooking and having everyone around the table. I grew up in Brazil and speak fluent Portuguese and Spanish. I also like long road trips and spending time exploring nature.
I graduated from Medical School at Federal University of Santa Catarina. After that, I moved to Brooklyn NY for my General Surgery residency and then to Stony Brook NY to do a fellowship in Vascular Surgery Growing up I liked science and helping others.I decided to go into medicine after high school because it was the career path that attracted me the most.
I really enjoy what I do, and I make all the efforts to treat patients, not diseases. I find very rewarding connecting with patients and being able to help them finding a reason to change lifestyle and improve their overall cardiovascular health for long lasting results. I have been a vascular surgeon for over 20 years in this area and I have treated thousands of patients. I strive to update my skills regularly and I feel very confident to offer excellent and compassionate care to all my patients.
